One of a pair of helmet-shaped ewers, the foot with moldings and row of gadroons, the lower part of the body adorned with cut card work against a textured ground. There is a ribbed band below the rim and a scroll handle.
Maker's Mark: a crowned fleur-de-lys, 2 grains, JCB, a rayed sun (Dennis 87): Bottom scroll of handle (twice), body by handle (3 times), rim of foot, underside of foot. Warden's Mark: 1713-1714, a crowned V (Dennis 359): Underside of foot, bottom inside of vessel. Charge Mark: 1712-17: an A on an inverted crown (Dennis 100): Underside of foot, inside bottom of vessel. Discharge Mark: 1712-17: crowned interlaced L's (Dennis 100): Rim of foot, partially effaced. Other: Illegible square mark on upper scroll of handle.
