Circular butter dish

One of a set of six partially fluted shaped circular dishes with molded rims. Similar to 1993.472.1and 1993.472.3-4 with eight flutes.

Inscription

Maison Commune: Metz, 1785-1786: a crowned N, a star (Helft, 543). Other: new mark: a peacock with a date, probably 84, thus making it the mark for 1785-1786 (Helft, 543); an illegible mark.
