STICK: MARKS: one in each corner of base, maker's mark BI with a crown above and a bird below (like Grimwade 178); lion's head erased; Britannia; date letter c (1698/9). ARMORIALS: on the base, Grey(of Groby),Earl of Stamford,with Maynard in preten SCRATCHES: engraved on the underside of the base "Bere Alston." BRANCH: MARKS: no marks on the bezel. On one scroll of branch, crowned harp. On another scroll of branch, Hibernia. On underside of each waxpan, crowned harp and Hibernia. On each nozzle, crowned harp. ARMORIALS: on each waxpan and on the central shaft, unidentified crest (an armgrasping a stick with a serpent wrapped around it).
