By 1876, James Davis, Boston; 1876, gift of James Davis to the MFA. (Accession Date: January 7, 1876) NOTES: [1] An annotated copy of the auction catalogue provides the buyer's name; also see Alfred Robaut, "L'oeuvre de Corot, catalogue raisonné et illustré" vol. 4 (Paris, 1905). [2] As suggested by a stamp on the reverse of the painting. Dètrimont was a dealer, restorer and framer; it is not known what role, if any, he played in the sale of this painting around 1875-1876.
