Learn about life in colonial America by looking at objects in the MFA’s American Wing.

Art-making activity:

When the colonists came over sea, they had very little extra space for all their things from back home. If you had to choose only your favorite things to bring with you, like some of the colonists did, what would they be? Draw your favorite things packed inside your suitcase (template)

Pre-tour group activity:

work as a group to build a miniature log cabin

Follow-up activity:

Imagine you’re living in colonial America. Write a letter to pen pal “back home” in England.
