Industrialization Version 2 , 1850-1900

The purpose of this lesson is to have students expand a pictorial survey of increasing industrialization by adding photographs or other images that carry the developments seen in selected American paintings of 1840-1880 forward to about 1900. Subjects consider many of the effects of the Industrial Revolution: the changes in the physical landscape of the country, urbanization, immigration, and the activities of different social classes. Students may include descriptions from poems and prose, as well as images.
