Building Tension

This lesson will help students to understand the considerable length of time in which tension was building between the colonists and England.  Students will view primary sources having to do with the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, and the Stamp Act – events that instilled frustration in the colonists and helped to ignite the want and fight for independence.  Students will participate in a discussion as to how these primary sources may have either encouraged or discouraged colonists to join the Patriot cause.
