The Black Death: A Turning Point in History

Among the many changes that the Black Death visited upon medieval European society was on art and Christianity. Art became distinctively darker literally and figuratively, while Christianity's emphasis shifted from hope, acceptance, and love--and the resurrection--to a deeper focus on pain as exemplified by Christ's suffering on the cross.
