Prior to November 2005, 102 of the 113 volumes were purchased by a bookseller from a private collector, Japan; November 2005, purchased by Charles Vilnis, Boston, from the bookseller in Osaka, Japan; Spring 2006, remaining 11 volumes purchased at two shops in Tokyo, Japan; 2007, 113 volumes offered for purchase to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, by Charles Vilnis.
