In the front, there are lot of inscriptions in devnagri script all over. The top left of the painting has "1 and Prathum raga megh" written in devnagri.

Provenance

Given to the MFA in 1917 by Denman Waldo Ross. Purchased in 1917 from Ananda Coomaraswamy. Purchased by Coomaraswamy in India prior to 1916.
