Formerly in the collection of the family of Sumiyoshi Hirokata; purchased by Ernest F. Fenollosa from Hirokata just before he died in 1885; 1886 purchased by Charles Goddard Weld from Ernest Fenollosa; 1911 bequeathed by Charles Goddard Weld to the Museum.
