On reverse, in English "no. 22." Pal: "Kakubha is a handsome young woman, suffering lovesickness, leaving her fine palace she enters the forest, ... Again and again she arouses the peacock's scream, forgetting soul and body in a trance upon her lord."

Given to the MFA by Denman Waldo Ross in 1917. Purchased from Ananda Coomaraswamy in 1917. Purchased in India prior to 1916.
