Art Speaks to Us: An Introduction to 7th Grade Geography

Overall Goal: Students will be introduced to the 7th Grade Geography Curriculum during the 1st week of school through this online gallery. The students will observe and discuss pieces of art from around the world to draw connections between the artwork and the different regions of the world.

Grade 7 World Geography Curriculum: students address standards that emphasize physical and political geography and embed five major concepts: location, place, human interaction with the environment, movement, and regions. In Grade 7, the students will study South America, Oceania, Southeast Asia, Europe, Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece.

Student Objectives:
- Students will work together to analyze artwork from different parts of the world.
- Students will describe the artwork in their own words
- Students will make predictions and try to identify reasons for the importance of the artwork to their specific cultures.
