String of melon beads

Start collecting

This is a string of eighty-even melon beads, perhaps miitating seds or berries. There are scant traces of the original blue-green glaze in some of the bead grooves.

Provenance

From Egypt, Deir el-Bersha, Tomb 51 A. 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
