Strainer

Silver strainer with two handles in form of goose necks and heads. Corroded. Part of bowl decayed out. An identical object, now in the Thessalonike Museum in Greece, was excavated from a tomb near Pella in ancient Macedonia.

Provenance

From Meroe, tomb of King Arakakamani (Beg. S. 6). January, 1921: excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; 1924: assigned to the MFA by the government of the Sudan.
