Statuette of horse and rider

Start collecting

The youth on horseback is nude and rides with reins in his left hand, his right hand originally held some object, perhaps a palm branch to symbolize his victory. Condition: Feet and tail of horse, left foot of youth, and object held in right hand are missing. Olive-green patina. Some corrosion.

By 1903: with Edward Perry Warren (bought in London; said to come from Mantineia in Arcadia); purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren, March 1903
