Stamp seal

Start collecting

Pyramidal stamp seal with rounded top, perforated lengthwise, and a slightly convex eight-sided base. Bluish chalcedony. On the upper base appears a bearded worshipper in a long garment and in the field a crescent. On one side of the seal is an inscription.

Provenance

1936: Purchased by the MFA through Prof. Robert A. Pfeiffer.* (Accession date: April 2, 1936) *40 seals, 36.177-36.216, were purchased as a group for $500.
