Seated ape

Seated faience ape with light green glaze. There is red discoloration. It is finely modeled. There is a hole bored on top of the head. The feet, lower legs and base are missing. The details are incised.

Said to be from Karnak. 1903: purchased for the MFA from Mohamed Mohassib, Luxor, Egypt by Albert M. Lythgoe for £1. Acquired with funds from the Emily Esther Sears Fund. (Accession date: January 1, 1903)
