Relief from tomb of Qar, Genet cat in marshes

Fragment of low raised relief showing a Genet cat in the papyrus marshes seizing one bird by its neck while two others sit in their nest. The background is a series of vertical papyrus stems. An unworked fragment of limestone cut from the back of the block, to make the block flatter for mounting.

Provenance

From Giza, G 7101, Qar, [chapel], perhaps from stair B, N(orth). 1925: excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Egypt.
