Relief of Amenhotep III and Sekhmet

Quartzite block with sunk relief showing Amenhotep III before the lion-headed Sakhmet; inscription above. In 2010, Tine Bagh, the Calsberg Scholar at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen, noticed that this block joins Ny carlsberg AEIN 1152.

Provenance

From Memphis, temple of Ptah, sanctuary of Amenhotep III (Petrie, Meydum and Memphis III, pl. XXIX, 2). 1910: excavated by the British School of Archaeology in Egypt; assigned to the British School of Archaeology by the government of Egypt; presented to the MFA by Dr. Winslow.
