Quiver

Start collecting

Cylindrical quiver with hinged lid and carrying chain. Three bells attached by wire links. Quiver has an incised banded decoration. Eleven of the original (poisoned) arrows as well as eleven arrow points of various material including bone, slate, iron and bronze are included in the photograph.

Provenance

From Meroe, west cemetery, tomb W. 122. 1922: excavated by the Harvard University-Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; 1924: assigned to the MFA by the government of the Sudan.
