This highly polished black beaker is of an unusual type characteristic of the classic phase of Kerma pottery. It is meant to imitate a group of the more common Kerma "tulip beakers" stacked in a pile.
From Kerma, tumulus III, grave 334. 1914: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Sudan. (Accession date: December 14, 2004)
