Oil flask (lekythos)

A helmeted warrior in ambush, behind a tree. He holds a spear (painted in red) at the ready in his right hand, and grips his shield tightly. He wears a sword strapped at his left side, but is otherwise nude. Condition: Broken and repaired with unimportant restorations.

By date unknown: with Edward Perry Warren (according to Warren's records: Greece); (a later addition to the Warren record states that according to J. A. Fothergill, Feb. 9, 1901: "Said to have come from Eretria."); 1897: purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren for $ 25,000.00 (this figure is the total price for MFA 97.285-97.442 and 97.1104)
