Model flail

Start collecting

This model flail has a chain consisting of three corroded metal links and four tortoise shell (?) links. The end piece of light wood is in the shape of a pomegranate. The handle of the flail is wooden. One small piece is broken off. There is one separate broken metal link.


From Egypt, El Ahaywah, Tomb No. 526 (?). July-August, 1900: excavated by George A. Reisner for the Hearst Egyptian Expedition of the University of California; by 1947: Harvard Camp, Giza; 1947: shipped to the MFA from Harvard Camp.
