Model of a butcher's workshop

Painted wooden model showing three men butchering an ox and a third man tending to a fire. All four men wear white kilts; the butcher's is stained with blood from his knife. Two of the men wear wigs; the other two have yellow-painted scalps to indicate they have not been exposed to the sun.

From Asyut, tomb 7. 1903: excavated by Emile Gaston Chassinat and Charles Palanque for the Institut francais d'archeologie orientale, Cairo; 1904: purchased for the MFA by Albert M. Lythgoe.
