1958: thought to have been part of a hoard found in the Moselle between Ahn and Machtum in Luxembourg in April 1958, according to R. Weiller, "Le trésor de Ahn-Machtum," in Hémecht (1970), p. 84, no. 19; by 1959: with Jacques Schulman, Keizersgracht 448, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Jacques Schulman Auction 232, The Carlton Hotel, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, March 9-12, 1959, lot 1429); purchased at the Schulman auction by Herbert Cahn [Münzen und Medaillen]; February 11, 1960: purchased by MFA from Münzen und Medaillen A.G., Malzgasse 25, Basel, Switzerland, for $ 1,400.00
