Head of Athena, facing , in high relief; Attic helmet with three crests; hair over shoulders; necklace, chiton. Round plaque sunk within deep vertical rim with wide flat edge. On edge, wave pattern. Many traces of gilding.

Said to have been found at Tarentum before World War II; by 1959: with Piero Tozzi, 137 East 37th Street, New York, N.Y.; purchased by MFA from Piero Tozzi, May 14, 1959, for $ 2,000.00
