Limestone case for fowl offering

This offering case in the shape of a plucked goose was intended to contain anactual offering of fowl for the tomb, possibly magically substituting for them in the absence of real offerings. It was originally painted yellow, but only traces of paint survive. Only the bottom half has survived.

From Giza, Tomb G 2381 Z / 117. 1912-13: excavated by the Harvard University–Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Egypt. (Accession Date: December 4, 1913)
