This is a fragment of the left hand resting on the knee from a nearly life-sized seated statue. The fingers and fingernails are finely rendered. It joins wrist Eg.Inv.1462. The stone is black granodiorite with many large white inclusions. GD1.

From Nubia (Sudan), Kerma, K III center. 1913: Excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Sudan.
