Kohl jar and lid

Start collecting

This squat, shouldered kohl jar has a separate rim and lid. The base is flat and footed. The jar still contains caked kohl powder. Other than a small chip in the rim, it is complete.

Provenance

From Deir el-Bersha, grave 2501. 1915: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession date March 1, 1921)
