Inlay for a finger ring

Start collecting

An oval-shaped, glass intaglio featuring a human head in the classical style. It is pale yellow in color. Apparently, there were fragments of a silver ring mount nearby. The inlay was recovered with seven other silver rings on the lower stairs leading to the burial chambers.


From Meroe, Beg. N. 22, tomb of Natakamani; found on lower stairs leading to the subterranean burial chambers. January 6, 1922: excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Sudan.
