This bronze rod-holder depicts two stylized rampant ibexes opposing one another, shown with prominent, exaggerated horns. The metal is dark with a light green patina.

Provenance

From Luristan, 1930: purchased by the MFA through Mr. Upham Pope.* (Accession date: August 7, 1930) *Ninety-five objects, numbered 30.544-30.637 were purchased as a group for $15,000, plus a $2250 commission.
