Heart scarab of Asata

Green jasper heart scarab of Queen Asata with eleven horizontal registers of beautifully-cut hieroglyphs on the base; some white paint remains in the hieroglyphs.

Provenance

From Nuri, pyramid XLII, Tomb of Asata. Excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of the Sudan; 1920: received by the MFA.
