Head of a king

Start collecting

Face from an indurated limestone stauette of a king, possibly Amenemhat III. The face itself is largely complete, but the nemes headdress is almost entirely missing. The eyes are well modeled, and display the characteristic pouche below them.

By 1978: with Charles D. Kelekian, New York; purchased by the MFA from Charles D. Kelekian February 16, 1978.
