Fragment of a volute krater. A bearded male head and shoulders, wreathed in small leaves (myrtle?). Part of a grapevine in background. Shoulder of another person with long hair to the right. One of the figures is probably Dionysus, the god of wine, because of the presence of the grapevine.

Provenance

By 1893: with Edward Perry Warren (according to Warren's records: Bought in Rome 1893. Marked Cività Castellana); 1895: purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren for $ 29,857.37 (this figure is the total price for MFA 95.9-95.174)
