Five miniature Herakles knots from a necklace

Start collecting

Each link is in the form of two loops knotted together (a Herakles knot). Attached to the center of the front is a flower with eight pointed petals. Two six-petaled rosettes are attached at each side; the petals are outlined with a filigree border, and the centers are beads of granulation.

Provenance

By date unknown: with Edward Perry Warren (according to Warren's records: Bought in Pozzuoli, said to have been found in the same tomb as the glazed monkey [01.7918]); December 1901: purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren
