His head is tilted upwards, baying or sniffing, and he wears no collar. The head is strongly, naturally modeled. The feet and lower half of the left foreleg are missing. Dull surface, light green and gray with hard encrustation.


By 1887: with Luigi Boccanera (said to be from the sanctuary of Diana at Nemi); March 25, 1888: purchased by R. Lanciani from Luigi Boccanera; purchased by MFA from R. Lanciani, 1888, for $493.92 (this figure is the total price of MFA 88.538–88.644 and 89.9–89.31)
