Figurine of a bound captive

This small limestone figurine depicts a bound male captive with a somewhat round abdomen. Both his legs and arms are bent back as though tied behind him. The modeling of the figure is fairly crude and blocky.

Provenance

From Tell Dafana (Daphnae), found in the desert east of the Kasr. 1886: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the EEF by the Egyptian government; presented to the MFA at EEF fifth annual general meeting; sent over June 1, 1887. (Accession date: June 1, 1887)
