Eye of Horus (wedjat) amulet

This barrel bead amulet is decorated in openwork. It depicts two Eyes of Horus (wedjats) with feathers in between them.

Provenance

Said to be from Egypt, Thebes (Karnak). 1903: purchased for the MFA from Mohamed Mohassib, Luxor, Egypt by Albert M. Lythgoe as part of a group (03.1606-03.1607) for 10 shillings. Acquired with funds from the Emily Esther Sears Fund. (Accession date: January 1, 1903)
