Drinking cup (skyphos)

Start collecting

Lead-glazed ware. Intact. Green glaze on exterior. Mustard color on interior. Double ring handles with top decoration of tied volutes, rosette above. On body: a scale pattern made up of three rows of pinecones within double U-shapes. Dots above cones in rows 2 and 3 and below row 3.


By date unknown: Charles Bain Hoyt Collection (according to his associate Burdon-Muller, the Hoyt "Greek & Roman glass and lead-glazed vases were all purchased from Kelekian and Kouchakji in New York"; bequest of Charles Bain Hoyt to MFA, May 11, 1950
