Decorated cylinder jar

Start collecting

D ware cylinder beaker with a flat base and a rolled, everted rim. Decorated with a red net design. Heavily encrusted with salt deposits. Vessel in poor condition, with cracks throughout the body. Note: Incorrectly marked 958/4 on base in black ink, but properly in pencil as 958/11.

Provenance

From Mesaid tomb 958 [M/958/11]. 1913: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
