Decorated bronze finial

This bronze finial is of a cup or cap-like form. One end is of flat, knob-like shape that connects to a flaring, cup-like end that carries linear decoration and . ; pierced, cap-like form, upper half marked with linear and hatched decorations. Many areas show a greenish patina.

Provenance

From Luristan, 1930: purchased by the MFA through Mr. Upham Pope.* (Accession date: August 7, 1930) *Ninety-five objects, numbered 30.544-30.637 were purchased as a group for $15,000, plus a $2250 commission.
