Amulet of Re-Horakhty as a falcon

This bright blue glazed faience amulet represents the solar god Re-Horakhty as a falcon with the sun's disk above his head. Because Re-Horakhty was associated with the rising sun, amulets of him were believed to assist the wearer with rebirth each day in the afterlife.


1894: given to the MFA by Mrs. Samuel D. Warren. (Accession date: October 1,1894)
