Amulet of a crocodile

Throughout ancient Egyptian history, people wore amulets of crocodiles as protection against actual crocodiles. Faience. Pale blue glaze. 2 very rudimentary specimens. See also entry 27-4-1035.

From Giza. 1927: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession date: April 14, 1929)
