Accessory to serving statuette, jar

Start collecting

Shouldered jar with a small flat base; an accessory for a "serving statuette." Worked rim heavily battered and chipped, two carved bands: one roughly at midpoint of the body and one just above the base. Surface rough; large chip missing from base.

From Giza, Tomb G 2382. 1912: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession date: December 4, 1913)
