1/6 stater of Kyzikos with Perseus holding head of Medusa above tunny fish

Obverse: Perseus kneeling on right knee to right, head to left, the harpa in lowered right hand (in lowered left hand the head of Medusa not visible) He wears chlamys and winged cap. Traces of tunny fish below. Reverse: Quadripartite incuse square, millsail type, granulated.


1900: Sotheby Sale (Late Collector), no. 319 (according to Regling and Brett); by date unknown: Canon Greenwell Collection; July 1902: acquired from Canon Greenwell Collection by Edward Perry Warren; September 1904: purchased by MFA from Edward Perry Warren Regling did not list as Greenwell.
