Wedge-shaped bead

This is a very unusual, wedge-shaped lapis bead which is pierced both lengthwise and side-to-side. There is one tiny carnelian ring bead stuck in the boring hole at one end of the lapis bead.

Provenance

From Egypt, Zawiyet el-Aryan, 1911: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
