Rounded rectangular gem with Tyche-Fortuna

Intaglio. Convex upper side. Draped female standing to front, looking right. She holds a cornucopiae in her left hand, and holds a steering oar in her extended right hand. Very schematic carving. Figure situated on a partial groundline.

Tell Dafana (Daphnae). 1886: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the EEF by the Egyptian government; presented to the MFA at EEF fifth annual general meeting; sent over June 1, 1887.
