Menkaura royal sculpture fragment

Large sculpted fragment of knee of statue, two pieces glued together. Finely modeled structure of bones and muscles clearly visible. Small rounded protrusion at top of knee is likely from end of middle finger of left hand resting on thigh.


From Giza. Menkaura Valley Temple. Excavated by the Harvard University–Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Egypt.
