Imitation cowrie shell beads

This is a group of eleven oval sheet metal discs with a slight lip around edge. There are holes pierced through each, perhaps for attaching them to an item of clothing. They appear to be imitation cowrie shells.

From Egypt, Sheikh Farag SF 231 C. 1913: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt.
